Sturt Federal Liberal MP Christopher Pyne has officially opened the Carmelite village, which is home to 38 apartments, a 70-bed aged care facility and a health and wellness centre with heated therapy pool, cafe and hair and beauty salon. The Not For Profit had purchased the 24,000sqm site from the Carmelite nuns for $8-plus million in 2009 before buying a number of surrounding residential properties to create the 3ha site. The investment has paid off – just five of the apartments are still available priced from $700,000.
