The Not For Profit has had another staff member diagnosed with coronavirus at its Rosanna home, 12km southeast of the Melbourne CBD, three months after another worker forced a voluntary lockdown. The Victorian Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) says the staff member did not work while infectious, but widespread testing of the other staff and residents began yesterday. Assisi Aged Care CEO Phillip Moran said some visitors were also being tested. “Some residents and staff have been placed in precautionary isolation pending further assessment and advice from authorities,” he said. “We have instituted mandatory use of PPE for all staff members caring for residents in isolation, continued our strict adherence to infection control measures, continued vigilance to identify even the mildest symptoms and increased the frequency of deep cleaning of the residence.” The case was one of 191 new coronavirus cases reported in Victoria yesterday, with one detected in hotel quarantine and 154 under investigation – suggesting they were the result of community transmission. The state now has 772 active cases, with 35 people in hospital including nine in intensive care.
