The country’s aged care homes will reopen on 1 October – six months after visitors were banned in April. The Scandinavian country drew headlines earlier this year with its “light-touch” approach, but COVID-19 swept through many of its aged care homes early in the pandemic. As of September, 2,669 of Sweden’s’ 5,731 COVID-related deaths were in aged care – around 46%.
