Technology Roadmap now available for aged care providers
Aged Care Minister Ken Wyatt launches the Aged Care Technology Roadmap

The Aged Care Industry Technology Council (ACIITC) released the Roadmap last week to highlight the changing way technology will impact on aged care services in Australia. The Roadmap highlights that:

  • Further reform should be based on consumers being able to use technology to access services
  • Offering consumers more choice and control will depend on involving them in decision-making with aged care providers
  • Aged care providers will need to utilise IT to better provide support
  • The aged care workforce will need to ‘upskill’ its technology literacy

Created by the Flinders University Medical Device Research Institute, it’s designed to work alongside the Aged Care Roadmap put forward by the Aged Care Sector Committee in April last year. ACIITC Chair Glenn Bunney says that he hopes the research will help policy makers going forward as well as guide providers looking to incorporate more technology into their services.
