Townsville local takes on Leagues Club and Council in attempt to stall build of $28M retirement village

A disgruntled resident is appealing a decision made by Townsville City Council to approve the development of the 73-unit The Boulevard retirement village in Kirwan. The Townsville Bulletin reports local Christopher Taylor is appealing the development, which will see a mix of two- and three-bedroom homes built on land owned by Brothers Leagues Club Townsville, on a number of grounds including increased traffic, visual impact, noise and emissions.

“It is about Brothers (Leagues Club Townsville) gaining a new access into their facility instead of providing something of benefit to the community,” he said. “Development is important in our city but it is such a jump up… putting a medium-density development on a rural residential block.”
