Two neighbours in a retirement village located in rural Dungog were drowned in the flash storm that struck coastal NSW last week. Over 300mm fell on Dungog in 24 hours.

The village had been identified as being built on a floodplain in 2011, highlighting the risk. In this bill 20 homes were damaged. The photograph shows the flood waters reaching the ceiling of one village unit.
