The Not For Profit plans to use the funds to extend its planned 120-bed facility in Thornbury, 7km north of the Melbourne CBD, to 180 beds. The project also includes 30 ‘village style’ apartments offering independent living and community care. Fronditha Care has already received a $250,000 grant from the Government to develop a community centre in Mulgrave, 21km southeast of the CBD, where its main support hub is located. The Victorian Labor Government has been pledging to build aged care facilities across the state ahead of the 24 November election including $625,000 for Jewish Care’s new $90 million aged care development.
