The WA Government has negotiated a Deed of Option to purchase the Heidelberg Park site in the Perth suburb of Carmel, which is in the eastern suburbs of Perth. The Deed gives Boston Consulting the security to conduct feasibility studies and finalise the proposed partnership arrangements with private aged care provider, Rosewood. Rosewood has two aged care homes in Leederville and West Perth. Heidelberg Park was earmarked an aged care home after a registration of interest process in 2021. The WA Government is providing 10 hectares of land for the proposed development which will include both a residential aged care home, public open space and parkland.
WA Lands Minister John Carey said, “With an ageing population, this Government is committed to making land available to enable diverse housing options to be developed for those who want to remain in their local communities.”
Mark McGowan’s Government announced in January last year that it would cut red tape to fast-track the construction of 2,000 aged care beds across the state.
