Charissa Harrison, the Owner Operator and Chief Operating Officer of the new entrant, said her husband Dale and her saw the "large under supply" of retirement living facilities before deciding to step in to the over 55s lifestyle market. Melbourne-based UrbanLife undertook its own research before securing land to build new independent living facilities in Altona North, 10km southwest of Melbourne, Footscray, 5km west of the State capital, and Upper Ferntree Gully, 32km east of the CBD. "There is an enormous opportunity for operators, and it is all about providing a better quality of life for residents and striking that balance between lifestyle and care,” she told the Westpac Conversations at the Wharf in Melbourne.
