Thegroup’s plans for a 100-appartment village were rejected at the first step by Sydney Western City Planning Panel. It was intended to overlook the Lakeside Golf Course Camden, which Wests Group owns. Wests also encompasses the Wests Rugby League Club, Wests Tennis Club at Leumeah and Country Club Gledswood Hills. The City Planning Panel rejected a site compatibility certificate for the 1.4ha site, deeming it “not suitable for intensive development,” citing poor public access to transport, lack of internal road network and the unknown access to utilities. Wests Group Macarthur CEO, Tony Mathew, said the organisation would likely not submit new plans for the retirement village for a number of years.
